There has been some suspicious activity circulating our street, including the robbery of our across-the-street neighbors a couple of days ago. All of the surrounding neighbors are feeling a bit insecure, since the robbery happened in the middle of the day. Eric is out of town tonight, leaving me slightly on edge. I'm very good at psyching myself out. In attempt to ease my nerves, I am coming up with several reasons why I shouldn't fear an intruder.
1- Eric bought me some pepper spray. He was explaining how to use it while I was watching Project Runway, so obviously I don't recall a word he said. But I think I could figure it out if I had to.
2- I have seen enough episodes of 24 to know how to seize a weapon, dislocate a shoulder, and evenly properly break a neck if need be.
3- If a thief did happen to enter our residence, he would probably take a look around at the horrendous mess and decide to leave, figuring that even if there was anything of value in the house he'd have little chance of finding it. Even I can't find what I'm looking for.
4- We own every talking/noisemaking toy under the sun, all of which are scattered on the floor. Good luck to anyone who tries to sneak an inch without setting one of them off. Upon forced entry, it would merely be a matter of seconds before the haunting croon of "ELMO LOVES YOU! ELMO LOVES YOU!" would fill the room. The robber would immediately make a run for it, either from being startled or completely annoyed.
There. I feel much better now. Oh, who am I kidding? I am a sitting duck.

HEY me too tonight! Bryan went to the 10:00 Aggie Game, and right before he left we watched some episode of 48 hours mystery that's got me all sorts of freaked out! I too am good at syching myself out. Sigh- why do we do that.... however I have been shown the proper way to shoot a gun if need be, do I remember, no! Therefore- watch out to ANYONE or ANYTHING that comes anywhere near me if I try to do so. :)
ReplyDeleteThey must be at that game together. Do you think that if we both got murdered in our beds while they were away that they'd ever be able to watch another Aggie game again? My answer is yes.
ReplyDeleteI think you're on to something Becky. I would run away from you with skills like those. ALso, I have a theory on who is committing these crimes. Has anyone considered the little people from Allen?
ReplyDeleteChristina, that is a terrible thing to say! If you are watching Project Runway, I can see where Katelyn gets her fashion sense. Those children's clothes were umm . . . well, they were interesting. I think you need a ferocious guard dog like Pippin or Rocky. Who would dare to enter????
ReplyDeleteOk....that was really funny. I laughed out-loud so loud that I think I just woke Sofia up. If so, I'll be knocking on your door soon 'cause it will be your fault.
ReplyDeletebecky, i just found your blog on skye's...so i guess i'm one of those "stockers" now too, hope you don't mind. oh my gosh your girls are darling!!! i wouldn't have expected anything less, but seriously soooo cute! i hope this "comment" finds you alive and well, i was scared for you until i read on...you've got some mad self defense skills, you're good! keep in touch. i'll try to update my blog one of these days so it's worth staying in touch! (it was so fun to see you this last summer...maybe again this year??)
ReplyDeleteBecky - you crack me up!! I am glad you have analyzed the situation so well and know exactly what would happen if someone did break in. I hate when Jake is gone at night too. I start thinking of all the crazy things that could possibly happen and how the scenario would play out and pretty much freak myself out. I was downstairs early yesterday in the morning and one of the doors just opened up - I swear there is someone living in my basement :) Hope Katelyn is feeling better. See you on Saturday for the birthday fun!!
ReplyDeleteOh, Wow... I love the mental picture of a thief stumbling over talking Elmo toys. Your girls are in good hands! Just make sure not to aim the pepper spray backwards:) This just makes me laugh.
ReplyDeleteHope you don't mind I stumbled across your blog. Really all that going on in the neighborhood? Good thing I didn't know Bri was out of town too. We could've set up a good Mama barricade! :)
