Today...

We took the girls to stroll around temple square after church. Katelyn said she wanted to get married in the Salt Lake temple. Emily agreed. They walked hand in hand and decided they were going to marry each other someday. Eric and I tried to explain that they'd marry nice young men instead.

"Okay," said Katelyn. "I'm gonna marry Grandpa."

"And I'm gonna marry Uncle Jake!" Emily chirped.

(Insert explanation that we don't live in Arkansas, and that they can't marry someone in their family.)

Our lesson didn't seem to take, as the girls continued to suggest other uncles they might tie the knot with. Looking back, I might have done well to ask the wandering sister missionaries to assist in the discussion.

But don't they make a lovely couple?

Our three peas in a pod.

  5. Great pictures :) I'm trying to remember if I ever wanted to marry an uncle at the age of 4...maybe Jeff? Heh. By 6, I'd definitely moved on to the boys in my kindergarten class (do you remember Anthony?). Watch out. I have a feeling Katelyn's boy aversion won't last much longer.

  6. So I guess I am no longer in the picture of being in Katelyn's life. I had my shot so she has moved on to Dan, definitely a step up for her.

  7. When my 18 year old daughter was in kindergarten she said very lovingly to me one day that she wanted to marry me. I told her that I already had a husband and that one day she would have one too. I asked her, "don't you mean you want to marry daddy?"..."no," she said, " I want to marry you." We have joked about it over the years. It is a sweet memory. I found your blog from Meanest Mom
